Intensive courses
Intensive driving courses
Seven to fifty hours, planned around your test date, with the car included on the day.

Who it is for
An intensive course is not for everyone
It is the fastest honest route to a licence for the right person and an expensive mistake for the wrong one. Which you are is the first thing the assessment settles.
- It suits you if
- You can drive most days for a couple of weeks, you have a theory pass or a date for one, and you would rather get it done than spread it over a year.
- It suits you less if
- You can only manage a couple of hours a week. Regular lessons will cost you less and work better, and we will tell you so at the assessment rather than sell you a course.
- You will need
- A provisional licence in hand, a theory pass before a practical test can be booked, and enough diary space to drive on consecutive days.

How it works
From first message to test day.

Answers
Common questions
How long does an intensive course take?
Most courses run over one to four weeks depending on the number of hours and how much diary space you have. The limit is usually your availability and the test date, not ours.
Why does it start with an assessment?
Because nobody can tell how many hours you need from a form. Two hours assessment on a real test routes with a senior instructor, marked the way an examiner would mark it, and you get an honest number before you pay for a course — sometimes fewer hours than you expected, sometimes more.
Is the car included on test day?
Yes, on every intensive package, and it is the same car you learned in. If you have learned elsewhere and only need a car for the test, we hire ours out separately. We will require you to complete an assessment prior to confirming we can provide hire.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes. Bumper lets you spread a course over one to nine months, interest-free. Tick the box in your plan and we will send the details.
Do you book my test for me?
No. Your test is booked in your own name through the DVSA. What we do is watch for cancellations at your test centre while you train, sixteen hours a day, so you can take an earlier slot if one appears and you are ready for it.
One caveat
What we cannot do
We do not sell fast-track test booking, and we cannot conjure a test date that does not exist. DVSA waits across London run to around six months, and any date depends on their availability.
What an intensive course changes is whether you are ready when a slot appears. Most people are not, and that is the part you can control. There is more on the waiting times page.
